DON'T GIVE UP

In life, we all face the temptation to give up, to give in, to quit. What I've seen though, in my own life and as a coach, is that we usually give up right before our breakthrough.

I want to encourage you and make sure you hear me clearly, DO NOT GIVE UP! No matter what mountain you may be facing, your breakthrough is on the other side.

What I want to teach you today is how to keep going when the going gets tough, how to take a lickin' and keep on tickin', and how to stay determined even in the face of your greatest fear.

So right now, take just a few minutes and click here or click play below to listen to this week's audio teaching on Persistence. You will not regret it, and I trust it will help you to stay the course and never give up.

ON YOUR MARK

A few months ago I had the opportunity to sit down with my friend Robert Madu, when we were both speaking at a conference in Chatanooga, TN. and talk a little bit about a battle we all face. That battle is comparison.

Earlier that day Robert delivered an amazing message about staying on your mark, staying in your lane, and not letting comparison cause you to quit. With this month being all about persistence I thought it would be a great time to learn from the insight Robert shared with me.

Comparison isn't all bad, especially when it used to motivate and not decimate the forward progress of our life. When comparison starts to impede our growth that's when we have to choose to not quit and persevere, even if we feel like someone may be doing it better than us. God has given us each a unique gift and a unique way to accomplish the plans he's put in our hearts.

I would encourage you to click here or click play below to hear more of what Robert had to say.

A LESSON IN HUMILITY

According to The Economist (November 20, 2003), the game, Monopoly, was not actually invented by George Parker (co-founder of Parker Brothers). When he played a trial version submitted by the actual inventor, Charles Darrow, Parker thought the game was too complicated. He thought it was too technical and that it took far too long to play.

So Parker sent a rejection letter to Darrow in early 1934, citing “52 fundamental errors” with the game. But a few months later, Parker was forced to eat his words.

ARE YOU ON AUTO PILOT?

Humans. We are all creatures of habit. Pattern and repetition, repetition and pattern, over and over.

I recently moved to a new house in a new part of town. I am finding my way around the new area, learning the ins and outs of the new shopping plazas where I run my weekly errands.

WINNING BY STICKING AROUND

John Osteen was the founding pastor of Lakewood Church, the largest church in the United States and one of the great churches serving my generation. But Lakewood Church was not always a large church. Starting the church in 1959 in an abandoned feed store in an economically depressed neighborhood, Osteen was faithful to give his best every day to the small group of people who initially attended his church. His passion and his zeal then attracted many more people, and, by the time Osteen died in 1999, he had built a thriving congregation that exceeds more than 43,000 people under his son and successor, Joel Osteen.
